Facts & Figures Zet Forward - A History of Data Analysis Related to Setonia History In-Person
Presenters: Alan DeLozier, University Archivist, Jeanne Brasile, Gallery Director, Sarah E Ponichtera, Assistant Dean for Special Collections and the Gallery.
This presentation will focus on the historical evolution of student demographic information at Seton Hall from basic name and hometown listings during the mid-nineteenth century to the recording of more sophisticated statistical data including major, gender, race, retention, etc. as a present-day research option. A chronological look at the inception and subsequent growth of the Latino student population at the university will be highlighted along with a look at resource formats, research techniques, and incorporating relevant documentation into various project options from student assignments to digital exhibits and mapping projects.
