Getting Started with Stata- DIPLO

Getting Started with Stata- DIPLO In-Person

This workshop is designed for our Diplomacy Students and will give you a comprehensive understanding of the basics of Stata. In this 1.5-hour session, you'll be introduced to Stata and its components, including the .do file, command window, and browse/edit data windows. We'll explore the differences between working with the .do file and using the command menus, and show you how to work out of a specific folder for a .do file and project. You'll also learn how to import data files such as .dta, .csv, and .xlsx, and we'll demonstrate the Stata "help" system and show you some resources for getting help with Stata. By the end of this workshop, you'll be able to open a data file and start working with it in a .do file with a specified working folder. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a solid understanding of Stata.
