LDW: Data Discovery: Navigating ICPSR, PolicyMaps, Statista, and Living Atlas of the World Online

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to various data providers that offer a wide range of datasets for research and analysis.

ICPSR, the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, is a leading provider of social science data and offers access to over 16,000 datasets. PolicyMaps is a data visualization tool that provides access to a variety of demographic, economic, and social data at the neighborhood level. Statista is a statistics portal that offers access to a wide range of data on industries, markets, and consumer behavior. Lastly, Living Atlas of the World is an online map-based data discovery and access tool that provides access to global data from a variety of sources.

Throughout the workshop, participants will learn how to navigate and search for datasets on these platforms, as well as how to access and download data for analysis. The workshop will also cover best practices for data management, including how to properly cite and document data sources.

This workshop is ideal for researchers, students, and data professionals who are looking to expand their data discovery skills and gain access to a wide range of datasets for their research projects. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a solid understanding of how to navigate these data providers and will be able to efficiently find the data they need for their research.
